Based in New York City (and northwest Connecticut), Seventy-Seven is a boutique movie and music label focusing on vintage, underseen, and underappreciated work, specializing in traditional theatrical releases.
Started by Gabriele Caroti, Seventy-Seven was launched to release Franco Rosso’s Babylon in the United States, which hadn’t been seen stateside in close to 40 years apart from a very small handful of screenings. Babylon’s 2019 release made it a true phenomenon: it was both universally lauded and a hit, becoming one of the top three highest grossing repertory films of the year.
Bronco Bullfrog and Private Road, the first two features by the late British auteur Barney Platts-Mills, are Seventy-Seven’s next two films. Bronco Bullfrog opened in New York on March 25, 2022 to much acclaim.
